01 — Where it started
Eddy G runs Latin nightlife and entertainment venues in competitive urban markets. The brand was well known, and that was part of the problem. Regulars already knew it, while the next wave of customers wanted something new and was finding it on their phones. Patronage was slipping, and the marketing was still built for a crowd that didn’t live on Instagram.
02 — What was really going on
Nightlife is an event business that looks like a bar business. People don’t go out to a building. They go out to a night: the DJ, the crowd, the costume contest, the chance to be seen. Sell the night and the bar takes care of itself.
03 — What I did
- 01
Programmed like a promoter. Owned DJ and artist booking as a direct revenue input and built events in themed series. Halloween 2024 ran nine events over nine days, October 25 to November 2.
- 02
Made guests the content. A hashtag-to-big-screen mechanic put guests’ posts on the venue screens. Together with influencers and YouTube live streams, it grew BarCode from 8,000 to more than 100,000 followers.
- 03
Paid the street on revenue. Built a promoter affiliate program that paid promoters on table sales, tracked in Google Sheets.
- 04
Went hyper-local. Paid social on Facebook and TikTok with creative built for each neighborhood. TikTok alone drove more than $100K in online ticket and event sales.
04 — The call that mattered
Paying promoters on table sales. It tied every person working the street to the number the owners actually cared about.
05 — What changed
- $1M a year in marketing returned $7.5M, a 7.5x blended return.
- Sales grew 650% across five locations.
- Halloween 2024: $147,972 in ticket sales and 4,550 tickets across nine events in nine days. That’s ticketing alone, not bar sales.
- One headline show, Fuerza Regida, grossed $142,481 on 862 tickets, 72% sold.
- One Facebook video ad reached 231,185 people and was shared 432 times.
06 — What I'd tell you
If people come for the experience, market the experience. Give them a reason to go out on a specific night, and a reason to bring their friends.
