Customers started asking ChatGPT who to hire. This company wasn’t in the answer.

01 — Where it started

A four-location service company in New Jersey was missing from a new kind of search. More customers were asking ChatGPT and Gemini who to hire instead of scrolling Google results, and when they asked, this company wasn’t in the answer.

02 — What was really going on

AI assistants don’t show ten blue links. They give one short answer and name the few businesses they trust. If a site doesn’t plainly say what the company does, where it works and why it’s credible, in a form those systems can read and quote, the company isn’t in the conversation.

03 — What I did

   Rebuilt the content for AI search. Restructured and rewrote the site’s pages so AI assistants could find, understand and cite them.

   Tracked where the jobs came from. Added lead source tracking so jobs that started with an AI answer show up as their own line.

   Measured visibility by platform. Monitored mentions and citations across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews.

04 — The call that mattered

Counting AI as a lead source. Visibility is nice, but two booked jobs a month that started in ChatGPT is a number an owner can take to the bank, and it only shows up if you track it.

• 24 mentions in AI answers and 27 of the site’s pages cited by AI.
• Mentions spread across ChatGPT (11), Gemini (7), Google AI Mode (5) and Google AI Overviews (1).
